Exercise and Getting Out As a Stress Relief Method
One of the best ways to relieve stress is through a good exercise routine. You can exercise as little as 30 minutes a day. Those people who work non stop and never get out are the people who have more stress than people who exercise and go outside on a regular basis and driving to work or picking up the kids doesn't count as exercise or getting out. You need to physically work out either at a gym or from home and getting outside for at least a few hours throughout the week. You would really be surprised at how much better you will feel in the first few days of starting an exercise routine.
If you have access to a gym, there are many different ways to exercise while relieving stress. You have cardio classes, treadmills, exercise bikes, elliptical and rowing machines. Some gyms have a walking track and a swimming pool. All of these different ways to exercise is a great way to eliminate the stress of the day. It isn't necessary to work out for hours, especially if you are not used to working out. You can start off with 30 minutes and work your way up.
If you do not have access to a gym, there are many ways to exercise at home. Check out the DVD section in your local video department of Wal-Mart, Target or Best Buy. They always have great selections of exercise videos; they have videos from beginner to expert. Start small and work your way up. All it takes to eliminate stress is just enough exercise to get your heart pumping. A great way to relieve stress is also by combining both exercise and getting outdoors. You can jog, ride a bicycle or even take a brisk walk for 20 to 30 minutes.
Being outside can be just a moral booster, why would you want to sit inside all day? If you are working and cannot be outside all day, try eating lunch outside with a group of co-workers, here you get the benefit of being outside but being able to talk to co-workers about work issues is a great stress reliever. You may be thinking this is great for summer, fall and spring but what happens in the winter? Winter is usually a month where people feel more stressed and more depressed. A great way to avoid that pitfall is by eating the stress free foods and that consists of anything with sugar and stay on your exercise.
There are plenty of things that you can do to avoid stress and along with exercise and getting outside while the weather is good is the best combination of managing your stress as well as avoiding it altogether. Talk to your doctor about setting up an exercise routine as well as ask if they recommend any stress free supplements other than the kind we suggested here. Your doctor may know of a better brand of supplement to take.
